Beta draft: this page describes how PetSitto works during the beta. It is not final legal advice and will be reviewed by a lawyer before public launch.
1. About PetSitto
PetSitto is an online platform that helps pet parents and independent pet carers discover, communicate with, and assess each other.
PetSitto does not itself provide pet sitting, boarding, walking, home visits, transportation, veterinary care, training, or any other pet-care service.
Pet carers using the platform are independent users. They are not employees, agents, representatives, partners, or subcontractors of PetSitto.
PetSitto does not assign carers to pets. Pet parents and carers independently decide whether to contact each other, meet, and enter into a care arrangement.
2. Agreements between users
Any agreement for pet care is made directly between the pet parent and the pet carer.
Users are responsible for agreeing between themselves on matters including:
- dates and times
- type of care
- price and payment
- feeding and routines
- medication
- behavioural needs
- access to the pet parent’s home
- collection and return arrangements
- emergency procedures
- veterinary authorisation
- insurance
- cancellation arrangements
PetSitto is not a party to the pet-care agreement between users.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, PetSitto does not collect or process payment for pet-care services.
3. User responsibility
Pet parents are responsible for providing accurate and complete information about their pet, including any relevant:
- medical conditions
- medication
- allergies
- behavioural issues
- aggression history
- anxiety
- escape risk
- triggers
- feeding requirements
- interaction with children or other animals
- special care needs
Pet carers are responsible for providing accurate information about their experience, availability, home environment, household, other animals, services, and ability to care for particular pets.
Each user must independently decide whether another user is suitable.
4. Compatibility and recommendations
PetSitto may provide compatibility scores, rankings, suggestions, profile information, or explanations intended to help users assess potential matches.
These tools are informational only.
A compatibility score or recommendation is not a guarantee that:
- a carer is suitable for a particular pet
- a pet is suitable for a particular carer
- a user is trustworthy
- a care arrangement will be safe or successful
Users remain responsible for making their own assessment.
We strongly recommend that users communicate fully and complete a Meet & Greet before the first care arrangement.
5. Pet Care Passport and Handbook
Pet Care Passports and Pet Care Handbooks are based primarily on information supplied by users.
PetSitto does not independently verify the accuracy, completeness, or medical suitability of that information.
The Handbook is provided as a practical information-sharing tool and is not veterinary, medical, behavioural, or professional advice.
Users are responsible for ensuring that all care instructions remain accurate and up to date.
6. No guarantee or vetting unless expressly stated
Unless PetSitto explicitly states that a particular verification has been completed, users should not assume that PetSitto has:
- conducted criminal background checks
- verified identity documents
- inspected a carer’s home
- confirmed qualifications
- verified insurance
- verified references
- checked veterinary competence
- assessed a user’s suitability to provide pet care
Any verification badge or trust indicator applies only to the specific verification described by the platform.
It must not be interpreted as a general guarantee of safety, conduct, or suitability.
7. Safety
Users are responsible for taking reasonable precautions before and during a care arrangement.
This includes, where appropriate:
- arranging a Meet & Greet
- discussing the pet’s behaviour and needs
- reviewing the Pet Care Passport
- inspecting the environment where care will take place
- agreeing emergency contacts
- providing veterinary information
- confirming medication instructions
- discussing other animals and household members
- ensuring appropriate equipment is available
Users should not proceed with an arrangement if they are uncomfortable with the circumstances or information provided.
8. Emergencies and veterinary treatment
Pet parents should provide appropriate emergency contact and veterinary information before care begins.
Users are responsible for agreeing what authority the carer has to seek veterinary treatment in an emergency and who will be responsible for any resulting costs.
PetSitto is not responsible for veterinary decisions made by a user or veterinarian.
9. Injury, loss, damage and incidents
Pet care involves inherent risks, including injury to pets or people, illness, escape, property damage, bites, scratches, accidents, or unexpected veterinary treatment.
Responsibility for an incident arising during a care arrangement will depend on the circumstances and applicable law.
PetSitto is not the provider of the underlying pet-care service and is not responsible merely because users met through the platform.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
10. Insurance
Users are responsible for determining whether they have appropriate insurance for the activities they undertake.
Pet carers should check whether their personal, household, business, or pet-care insurance covers care provided to other people’s animals.
Pet parents should check the scope of their own pet and liability insurance.
PetSitto does not guarantee that any user has suitable insurance unless explicitly stated.
11. User disputes
Disputes relating to the actual pet-care arrangement, including payment, property damage, pet injury, cancellation, or quality of care, should generally be resolved between the pet parent and pet carer.
PetSitto may choose to assist with communication or investigate reports, but is not required to decide private disputes between users.
We may suspend or remove accounts where we reasonably believe there is a safety risk, serious misconduct, fraud, abuse, or a breach of these Terms.
12. Reports and blocking
Users may report or block other users.
PetSitto may review reported content and account activity and may take appropriate action, including warnings, restrictions, suspension, or account removal.
Making a report does not guarantee that a specific action will be taken.
13. User-generated content
Users are responsible for information, photographs, messages, profile content, reviews, and other material they submit.
Users must not upload content that is unlawful, misleading, abusive, defamatory, fraudulent, or infringes another person’s rights.
PetSitto may remove or restrict access to content where required by law or where it reasonably considers the content to breach these Terms or create a safety risk.
14. Platform availability
PetSitto is currently in beta.
Features may be changed, added, removed, interrupted, or discontinued.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability of the platform.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PetSitto is not responsible for loss or damage arising solely from:
- the acts or omissions of independent users
- inaccurate information supplied by users
- a user’s decision to proceed with a care arrangement
- the quality or outcome of pet care independently agreed between users
- loss, injury, illness, escape, or property damage occurring during a care arrangement between users
PetSitto remains responsible for liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability arising from its own breach of mandatory legal obligations.
16. No professional advice
Information provided through PetSitto is for general informational purposes.
Nothing on the platform constitutes veterinary, medical, legal, insurance, behavioural, or other professional advice.
Users should consult an appropriate professional where necessary.
17. Suspension and termination
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access where we reasonably believe a user:
- has breached these Terms
- has provided materially false information
- has acted fraudulently
- has harassed another user
- has endangered an animal or person
- has used the platform for unlawful purposes
Users may delete their account in accordance with the Privacy Policy and account settings.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the platform develops or legal requirements change.
Where changes materially affect users’ rights or obligations, we will provide appropriate notice.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Swedish law, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply.
Nothing in these Terms removes rights that users have under mandatory Swedish or EU law.
